Achievements at Welingkar
In less than a decade, Dr. Uday Salunkhe has helped propel Welingkar institute to new heights. Welingkar has come a long way since Dr. Uday Salunkhe has been at the helm and is now ranked amongst the top B-Schools in India. The current Group Director of Welingkar, Dr. Uday Salunkhe has seen Welingkar ranked 16th in the Economic Times – India Inc's Preferred B Schools survey 2011. At that time, the Economic Times did a story on how students from non - IIM institutes, like Welingkar, were receiving prestigious offers from companies in the financial sectors and the IT sectors. Dr. Uday Salunkhe was quoted as saying that India Inc. was back on its feet and that sectors like IT, ITeS and finance were getting a lot of international business, which were creating opportunities for students.
Under Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Welingkar Institute of Management was ranked 7th in West India and 16th overall in India's Top 50 Business Schools by the Hindustan Times Best B Schools in India Survey in 2010. Under the guidance and stewardship of Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Welingkar has been ranked 8th in the private B-School category by Outlook in the B-School Survey in 2008, 3rd in Student Exchange Program category, 7th in Faculty Exchange Program category.
The Dewang Mehta Business Award in 2008 was awarded to Welingkar for the following categories: Business School which encourages Innovations that lead to better development, Business School Leadership Award, Business School with Best Academic Input (Syllabus) in Marketing and Retail / Services. The awards received by Welingkar were in recognition of leadership, development, innovation and industry interface of business schools. The Dewang Mehta Business Award recognizes talent and leadership amongst the best Business Schools across India.
Welingkar also received the JJ Irani Award as the Best Management Institute, in September, 2006 under Dr. Uday Salunkhe’s management.
Dr. Uday Salunkhe has initiated several international partnerships for Welingkar with universities across the globe to facilitate faculty & student exchange programs, study internships in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Sweden, France and others.
Dr. Uday Salunkhe has also helped launch the new Welingkar campus in Bangalore and has been instrumental in conceptualizing and introducing several new pedagogical approaches in teaching and in the curriculum at Welingkar.
